I’ll be honest with you, I noticed this ad several times and just skipped it, until someone told me to look at it.
After I saw it, I couldn’t stop thinking, which door would I have chosen?

This is a social campaign that Dove developed for evaluating how women from around the world see themselves. For this they created two doors, each one with a sign: One said Average, and the other said Beautiful.
Unfortunately, and perhaps unsurprisingly, many women chose to slink by unnoticed beneath the “Average” sign, rather than display to the world that they acknowledged their beauty.
This made me think, who creates the idea of beauty? Or what is it to be beautiful?
If beauty is something external, then only certain celebrities or models would qualify, so it’s understandable that only 4% of women around the world consider themselves beautiful.

Most of us question what beauty really means, and we talk about inner beauty. So when someone asks if we are beautiful, why do we think first of external beauty?
I think this is related to the external pressure from society to be beautiful. But should the parameter for beauty be internal or external?
If we consider which is most truthful, women would realize that the choice to be beautiful or average is our own, and we will never hesitate about which door to go through ever again.
The difference between pretty and beautiful: Pretty is temporal, whereas beautiful is eternal.
