Former CNN host Larry King had lawyer and NRA Defender of Justice award recipient Chuck Michel on his Russia Today show and advocated for gun control during a discussion about the Second Amendment. Much like his successor, Piers Morgan, King had some tilted questions for gun owners and the NRA.
King vaguely recollected the origins of the U.S. in his questioning, but seemed to have forgotten why our Founding Fathers separated from Europe.
“Funny when you look at a society,” King began. “I interviewed the head of Scotland Yard once and he could not believe that Americans own guns. It was beyond his comprehension that you could have a gun.”
“How do you explain that?” he asked. “We developed from the British society.”
Michel tried to argue that our founders knew of the British rules and sought to “learn from their mistakes”–but was cut off by King.
“Yeah, but they don’t have gun deaths like we do,” King interjected.
Michel told King to dig into those facts. He argued that the majority of American gun deaths are “gang and drug related.” He added that if you were to take the inner-city gang violence deaths out of the equation, the U.S. would have rates comparable to other European countries.
“It’s really spiked in those inner-city areas which usually, ironically, have the strongest gun control laws like Chicago and Los Angeles,” Michel refuted.

Is Larry King oblivious to the Second Amendment? Do you support your Constitutional right to bear arms?
