Marco Rubio

Recently-announced 2016 presidential candidate Marco Rubio, R-Fla., was interviewed by MSNBC’s Morning Joe, and he discussed his experience in office and how he now believes he won’t be a carbon copy of President Obama.

“I’ve been in the Senate now for four-and-a-half years,” Rubio said to Kasie Hunt of MSNBC. “I’ll have been in the Senate for six years where I’ve spent a significant amount of time every day working on intelligence issues and also on foreign relations.”

Hunt referenced an ad that the RNC ran back in 2008 highlighting Obama as “untested,” and asked Rubio if that sentiment doesn’t apply to him. She asked if he thought he was more experienced than then-Senator Obama.

“Well, I don’t think there is any doubt about that in terms of the years, but also what we did,” Rubio answered. “I mean, he was, as I said, he was a back-bencher in the Illinois legislature. I was the speaker of the Florida House, the majority leader and the majority whip.”
