At least we now know what Hillary Clinton likes for lunch.
You may have seen the wide news coverage of the candidate’s stop at a Chipotle restaurant in Maumee, Ohio, Monday on her driving trip from New York to her first campaign appearances in Iowa.
But have you seen how social media cooked up a spicy response?
Mrs. Clinton, accompanied by her aide Huma Abedin and the secret service detail, reportedly ordered a Chipotle burrito bowl, and, observes The New York Times, she even carried her own tray.
The focus of the Times article, as well as much of the other coverage of the event at the eatery, was that the likely Democrat nominee for president went through the lunch line without creating a stir.
…no one recognized her.
Maybe it was the dark sunglasses. Or maybe she had a certain je ne sais — qui?
But nobody took notice of the celebrity in front of the counter. Fellow patrons paid her no more attention than a driver would get from a toll taker.
Presumably, Hillary’s Chipotle stop would have gone unheralded in the national press, had it not been for reporters calling and convincing the restaurant manager to check security footage.
But once the telltale images began to circulate on the web, Twitter users certainly took note of Hillary’s “I’m one of you” sojourn among the everyday folk, even if the lunchtime consumers only feet away from her did not.
And much of the Twitter feeding frenzy might well be cause for a wicked case of heartburn for Mrs. Clinton and her entourage.
