President Barack Obama has, on numerous occasions, made remarks promoting the Islamic faith, and attempted to play up the notion that Islam has played a vital role in the history of America.
Of course, there has been massive push-back against Obama’s comments, as Muslims played little role in the founding of America, or it’s initial greatness, other than providing the impetus for the formation of the Marines and America’s first war on foreign soil, against the Muslim Barbary Pirates.
Since Obama initially made these types of comments about Muslims in America back during a 2009 speech in Cairo, there has been something of an “open letter” making the rounds on the Internet, rebutting Obama’s statements with a list of facts he just doesn’t want to hear.
Recently, a high school lacrosse coach named Scott Lees was forced to resign his position at the Fryeburg Academy in New Hampshire, simply for sharing the nearly six-year-old open letter on his Facebook page.
“I just thought it was an interesting article,” Lees said, noting that none of his students interacted with the post. “It’s not like it went viral,” he explained. “It’s not like everyone and their brother saw it.”
