(Before It's News)

“Conservative Christians may be in a minority, but thank God we have a richer understanding of what it means to be human and to be free…” – Carl R. Trueman

For the faithful, God-fearing Christian, the whole “gay thing” is dicey. But as Christians, we can’t separate the truth of Original Sin (and our tendency to be led by our carnal lusts) from the realities of our modern society.

Some lusts are easier to hide, while others are wholly embraced; but Christians have been asleep at the wheel for so long that now our righteous reaction appears an overreaction. We don’t hate ‘gays,’ nor are we better than them…

However, I would argue that being ‘gay’ is illegitimate. It is a counter-purpose behavior that has been wrongly acknowledged and recognized. If I ignored my natural, biological makeup and acted counter to it, I would need to be corrected or discouraged from proceeding thus. Such inclinations and tendencies go against natural, biological, and spiritual health and wellness. I may remain faithfully single and celibate, but I proceed in rebellion to my own detriment.

Of course, there is also the issue of ‘gender identity,’ which is simply ‘sexual orientation’ taken to the extreme (a.k.a. sex orientation on steroids). Tragically, once you entertain the one, the gateway becomes wide open.

Once ‘anything goes,’ it isn’t long before all human dignity and reason go out the window. A boundless, laissez-faire approach to morality and society may sound good to the less discerning among us; however, the logical conclusion of such slippery slopes paints a highly troubling and arbitrary picture

…boredom… presented as justification for remaking the marriage bond speaks of a self-absorbed approach to life where stimulation and personal entertainment are now almost the only ethical criteria (except for the increasingly tenuous principle of consent). Indeed, the unthinking moral solipsism of this present age is on full display… “If it is good for me, it must be good for society” is dangerous enough as a principle of social ethics. To replace that with “If it cures my boredom, it must be good for society” is lunacy.
