What Krauthammer Just Said Has Donald Trump Unleashing A Blistering Tirade: ‘Overrated Clown!’
In his analysis of recent presidential polling results, columnist and Fox News Channel contributor Charles Krauthammer cited Donald Trump’s inauspicious placement atop the list of GOP candidates actual Republican voters would never support.
“It’s just a tremendously interesting poll,” Krauthammer said in reaction to its results. “It is led by Donald Trump with a deserved 59 percent.”
Special Report host Bret Baier gave his guest an opportunity to retract his assertion, asking, “Do you have to add the ‘deserved.’”
Krauthammer stuck to his initial position, however, even predicting the backlash that might follow.
He said Trump “is going to say how sad it is that I’m saying these things,” nonetheless defending his right to say them by adding, “this is an open forum and we have free speech.”
According to his assessment, Trump’s finish in the poll was both “well-deserved” and “impressive.”
As if on cue, Trump soon responded to the on-air slight with a series of Twitter posts disparaging Krauthammer. He starts off with a post describing the pundit as one of television’s “worst and most boring,” going on to call him a “totally overrated clown who speaks without knowing facts[.]”
In subsequent posts, Trump rehashed the “overrated clown” jab, adding new insults along the way.
He “pretends to be a smart guy, but if you look at his record, he isn’t,” Trump asserted. “A dummy who is on too many Fox shows.”
Krauthammer is a “total loser” and a “[d]ummy” in Trump’s opinion. The real estate tycoon completed his evisceration of the renowned writer by declaring that his latest book, Things That Matter, “sucks!”
After flirting with a 2016 White House bid for several months, Trump is expected to make an official announcement on the matter later this month.
