The Drudge Report appeared pleased with the news of House Speaker John Boehner’s departure.
The conservative outlet ran a heading mocking the Speaker’s common tearful expression of emotion with the headline: “One Last Cry.”

Boehner was filled with tears multiple times during Pope Francis’ visit to Capitol Hill on Thursday, perhaps partly because an address to a joint session by a pope had been a goal of his since the early ’90s. The Speaker was also likely reflecting on what he was to announce the next day.

Boehner apparently planned to step down as house speaker at the end of 2014, but the defeat of majority leader Eric Cantor in last year’s elections made him decide to seek the post again. As reported by Western Journalism, his tenure was becoming contentious with the conservative house, Freedom Caucus, seeking a no confidence vote. “The speaker believes putting members through prolonged leadership turmoil would do irreparable damage to the institution,” a Boehner aide told Politico. “He is proud of what this majority has accomplished, and his speakership, but for the good of the Republican Conference and the institution, he will resign the speakership and his seat in Congress, effective Oct. 30.” Boehner cancelled a press conference called for Friday morning and instead issued a statement announcing his departure. He has been known to get emotional at press events, and certainly one announcing the end of his speakership and 24-year congressional career would have likely evoked tears.

He is resigning because he doesn’t want to be in any crosshairs where all financial hell breaks loose later this year and he knows it all too well. This is called the proverbial “rats leaving a sinking ship.”
FINALLY…. removing one of those in the den of vipers…. October 30 will not be soon enough.
