A star-studded cast is expected at a rally on the Capitol steps in Washington on Wednesday to voice their opposition to the Iranian nuclear agreement. The event will be headlined by presidential candidates Ted Cruz and Donald Trump.
The rally is being sponsored by the Tea Party Patriots and the Zionist Organization of America. Cruz was originally tapped as the headliner; but the candidate turned around and invited Trump to join him two weeks ago, and The Donald accepted.
Cruz explained why he is willing to share the stage with his GOP rival. “The reason’s not complicated,” Cruz told reporters outside a recent tea party rally. “Number one: I like Donald. He’s a friend of mine. But when Donald arrives at an event, he brings an army of TV reporters. He brings an army of cameras that show up. And Donald’s being there — he very graciously accepted — means the mainstream media will cover the event.”
Others slated to appear at Wednesday’s rally include: Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, radio talk show hosts Mark Levin and Glenn Beck, Duck Dynasty’s Phil Robertson, as well as several members of Congress – Reps. Rep. Mo Brooks, R-Ala.; Dave Brat, R-Va.; Rep. Jim Bridenstine, R-Okla.; Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas; Rep. Trent Franks, R-Ariz.; Rep. Steve King, R-Iowa; Rep. Mark Meadows, R-N.C; Rep. Mike Pompeo, R-Kan.; Rep. Ted Yoho, R-Fla.; Rep. Marsha Blackburn, R-Tenn.; Rep. Tim Huelskamp, R-Kan.; and Rep. Lee Zeldin, R-N.Y.
Tea Party Patriot president Jenny Beth Martin told Breitbart News regarding the event: “We’re excited we’re going to be able to let Congress know the majority of Americans think this Iran deal is bad for America. We hope that Congress, especially the senators who have come out in favor of the deal, will vote to put America and America’s security above party loyalty.”
Regarding the deal Cruz asked: “Have any of y’all seen the movie ‘Scarface?’” according to CNN. “This is the equivalent of law enforcement picking up the phone and calling Tony Montana and saying, ‘Hey Tony, you got any drugs?’ ‘I don’t got no drugs.’ ‘Thank you, Tony.’ That is essentially the Iranian nuclear inspection regime.”
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, one of the deal’s fiercest critics, has listed several reasons he opposes it:
A vote in Congress is expected this week.
