Donald Trump recently announced that he would be boycotting Fox News due to his belief that they were covering him unfairly. In turn, Fox News announced that they had cancelled him first.
Now, Fox News has offered Trump an invitation to discuss his concerns.
A Fox News spokesperson released the following statement:
Fox News Chairman & CEO Roger Ailes and Donald Trump spoke this morning and plan to have a meeting next week to discuss their differences of opinion regarding Fox’s coverage of Mr. Trump’s presidential campaign. Ailes will be joined by senior Fox editorial executives. Mr. Trump believes he has been treated unfairly in certain instances. FOX News has held every candidate in this race to the highest journalistic standards throughout our coverage. We believe a candid meeting about our differences is required and that any misunderstandings can be handled without compromising those standards.
Before his announcement that he would boycott Fox News, Trump had been critical of what he thought of as unfair Fox coverage. He asked Bill O’Reilly on Twitter: “Why don’t you have some knowledgeable talking heads on your show for a change instead of the same old Trump haters. Boring!”
Trump was also critical of Rich Lowry, editor of National Review and a recent Fox News guest. Lowry crudely stated: “Part of what’s going on here is that last debate. Let’s be honest: Carly cut his balls off with the precision of a surgeon, and he knows it.”
Trump responded on Twitter:
@FoxNews owes me an apology for allowing clueless pundit @RichLowry to use such foul language on TV. Unheard of!

Lowry, for his part, stated:
@realDonaldTrump I thought the Carly cut your balls off line might bother you, but you know it’s true… — Rich Lowry (@RichLowry) September 24, 2015
Who is more to blame for the conflict? Fox News, or Donald Trump? Will their feud come to an end with this meeting?
