The Dynasty is siding with The Donald.
During Donald Trump’s appearance Friday at the Oklahoma State Fairgrounds in Oklahoma City, Trump called Duck Dynasty star Willie Robertson to join him at the podium.
“Willie? Willie? Where are you?” called out Trump. As the reality star emerged from the crowd and made his way to the podium, Trump was visibly enthusiastic.
“Willie! Get over here! Look at this guy! Look at this guy! Willie do you love Trump?” the Republican front-runner asked.
“I do like me some Trump, I gotta admit,” Robertson said, with a wry smile parting his beard. He then shared with the crowd his reasons for endorsing the businessman.
“Here’s the deal. We’re both successful businessmen. We both have pretty big shows on television,” he added. “We both have wives that are 1,000 times better looking than us so I like Trump.”
Robertson had earlier said he supported Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal in the Republican contest and has never retracted that statement. However, Jindal’s campaign has never received widespread support. His name is often mentioned with those expected to withdraw from the GOP race.
However, even in July, while maintaining he was “with Bobby,” Robertson had favorable things to say about Trump during an appearance on Fox News.
“I love Trump,” he said then. “How can you not love Trump?”
Robertson praised both the style and substance of Trump’s campaign.
“The way Trump talks does resonate with the people. He sounds like a real guy. He’s angry, and he’s tapping into what a lot of people are feeling. He makes more sense than a lot of the other people,” Robertson said
When asked then if he would support Trump, he replied, “As opposed to Hillary, yeah I would.”
“Trump makes a lot of sense,” he said. “He’s a tough guy.”
During his speech Friday, Trump took his trademark jabs at the establishment coupled with his vows that everything will change if he is elected.
We have many difficulties. Our biggest difficulty is our politicians who are all talk and no action. They keep working, they just want one thing: they want their job renewed every two or four years.
“Our country doesn’t have victories any more,” Trump said. “We don’t win. We don’t win at anything. We don’t win with ISIS. We don’t win with China, Japan, Mexico. We don’t win with anybody,” Trump said. “And we are going to start winning so much that you’re going to get sick and tired of winning. You’re going to get bored of winning.”
