Wow: Franklin Graham Responds To Trump’s Kim Davis Comments With MAJOR Truth Bomb

(Before It's News)

Franklin Graham took presidential candidate Donald Trump to task for joining the “Kim Davis needs to follow the law of the land” crowd in response to her stand for religious liberty.

Referring to the Supreme Court’s 5-4 ruling in June, Trump said regarding same-sex marriage: “You have to go with it. The decision’s been made, and that is the law of the land.”

As reported by Western Journalism, Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis is seeking a religious exemption from being required to place her signature and title on same-sex marriage certificates. The state of North Carolina has already made this accommodation for its officials.

Trump went on to say that he recognizes the difficult situation in which Davis and other who share her convictions are being placed. “I’m a believer in both sides of the picture,” the candidate said Friday on MSNBC’s Morning Joe. “I hate to see her being put in jail. I understand what they’re doing,” presumably referring to U.S. District Court David Bunning ordering her to jail on Thursday.

“I would say the simple answer is let her clerks do it,” he said. “Now from what I understand she’s not letting the clerks do it either. The other simple answer is rather than going through this — because it’s really a very, very sticky situation, a terrible situation — 30 miles away they have other places, they have many other places where you get licensed. And you have them actually quite nearby, that’s another alternative.”

Davis has objected to allowing her clerks to issue licenses in her stead because, under current Kentucky law, her name and title still appear as authorizing the marriage on the license.

Franklin Graham wrote on his Facebook page on Monday:

Donald J. Trump said that ‪#‎KimDavis‬ should follow ‘the law of the land.’ He should know that just because something is made into a law, doesn’t make it right. His Scottish Presbyterian ancestors may have been among those who had their heads cut off because they refused to recognize the King of England as head of the church. They believed that Jesus Christ was the head of the church, not the King of England; and they stood for–and died for–those sincerely held religious beliefs. Our forefathers gave us freedom of religion at a great cost, and that was meant for us to be able to live out our faith in our daily lives, at home and at work. That’s what Kim Davis is trying to do today–live out her faith. The Supreme Court did not have the right or the authority to redefine marriage. Big mistake.

Presidential candidate Gov. John Kasich shares Trump’s view that Davis needs to follow the law, while fellow GOP candidates Mike Huckabee, Ted Cruz and Rand Paul support her stand for religious liberty.
