Federal education guidelines have been roundly criticized for forcing kids to learn convoluted mathematical methods that many malign as inordinately difficult.
While the weighty issues associated with the Common Core initiative continue to be debated, one image currently being shared online points out that even ordinary math problems, if taken literally, can seem bizarre.
Attributed to a 6-year-old in a popular Reddit post uploaded Wednesday, the poster prefaced the image by explaining it is evidence that his “kid is going places.”
When “Show your thinking” doesnt go as u planned! Thanks @Townsend_RSE for this laugh! #MTBoS #elemmathchat pic.twitter.com/hCcBE7KvGT

A few commenters pointed out the frown depicted on the artist’s face, while some referenced the image’s title by predicting the “places” he might go. One critic determined that it won’t be “art college.” The reference to showing one’s work struck some as one key deficiency in the perceived undue complexity of Common Core math.
@RickCanton That is absolutely PRICELESS! iI love it! — Judy Stines (@jstines3) November 5, 2015
“Appropriate answer for common core idiocy,” one user wrote.
@RickCanton @Lrihendry I love that kid!

Others surmised that the answer deemed right by the teacher is likely more ridiculous than one displayed in this image.
@BishfaceBobby If that is not “show your thinking” then I don’t know what is — Danger Tits (@Chellie2shoes) November 5, 2015
One noted the frustration of “drawing 34 f—king circles on this page.”

Thank you Mother/Ma’am for standing up for our children, apparently none of our so-called “Educators” will not.
Yet ANOTHER OLD VIDEO CLIP! This is OLD news — NOT Before It’s News. What a BS site…
These stories are contrived.
It makes some people feel good.
If any of you have a small blond/blue child…. Have that kid walk up to a fully dressed Muslim women – Burqa – asking if the women is Santa in disguise. Once the child hears the female voice of the Burqa wearing Muslim women, have the kid start insisting it’s Mrs. Claus dressed as a spy.
Have the ‘cute little’ white boy rip her garb off as proof. In conclusion, the kid can freak-out and run off.
You are top of the crop. I just loved that explanation on ” How did you come to your answer” Sweet and SOLID.
we are the most current survivors if you want to look at it that way, could be a lot better in the future if the younger generation does their part making it so, so there’s that..
Common core might be generally insane but it’s approximation of maths is what mathematicians themselves do. And everybody else when counting the money in their pocket.
This may be old news, but it’s just as relevant as ever. These so called “educators” are intentionally dumbing down the next generation in order to pump out mindless indoctrinated government dependent liberal voters, and destroying America as we know it.
