As residents of Calais, France and parts of Germany watch migrants invade and destroy their towns, actor George Clooney wants to bring that to the U.S.
CLOONEY: …What we can do, what our involvement should be, what Hollywood’s involvement could be and what the United States should be doing as well. And probably, ask [German Chancellor Angela Merkel] about the difficulties that she’s facing. I think it is an important time to talk about these things.
FEMALE REPORTER: Do you agree with [Merkel’s] policy?
CLOONEY: Well, you know, I absolutely agreed with it in the beginning, of course, it was an amazing policy. She is facing a lot of difficulties. There are a million refugees here. That’s a big task and it becomes politically heavier as time goes on. So we are hoping to encourage that behavior because it was – it’s been sort of the beacon in the rest of Europe, particularly. So, yes.
FEMALE REPORTER: What more do you think we should all be doing?
CLOONEY: The United States needs to do more, as we know. 10,000 refugees a year is not enough, that’s clear.
