Now that all the technical stuff is out of the way, I’ll introduce the author I am hosting on this hunt.
I am super excited to be hosting…
BRENDA DRAKE!

BRENDA DRAKE'S BIO:
Brenda Drake grew up the youngest of three children, an Air Force brat, and the continual new kid at school. Her fondest memories growing up is of her eccentric, Irish grandmother's animated tales, which gave her a strong love for storytelling. So it was only fitting that she would choose to write stories with a bend toward the fantastical. When she's not writing or hanging out with her family, she haunts libraries, bookstores, and coffee shops, or reads someplace quiet and not at all exotic (much to her disappointment).

[Christine here - haunted libraries - YES! Brenda is definitely my kind of author!]

Brenda is showcasing her book, THIEF OF LIES during the hunt:
THIEF OF LIES

A little about Thief of Lies:
Gia Kearns would rather fight with boys than kiss them. That is, until Arik, a leather clad hottie in the Boston Athenaeum, suddenly disappears. While examining the book of world libraries he abandoned, Gia unwittingly speaks the key that sucks her and her friends into a photograph and transports them into a Paris library, where Arik and his Sentinels—magical knights charged with protecting humans from the creatures traveling across the gateway books—rescue them from a demonic hound.

Jumping into some of the world’s most beautiful libraries would be a dream come true for Gia, if she weren’t busy resisting her heart or dodging an exiled wizard seeking revenge on both the Mystik and human worlds. Add a French flirt obsessed with Arik and a fling with a young wizard, and Gia must choose between her heart and her head, between Arik’s world and her own, before both are destroyed.

[Christine here again - I want this book! In fact, I may need to move it up 7 notches on my TBR list!

Okay, back to Brenda's exclusive content:]

FAN PLAYLIST
For me, my stories are incomplete unless there is a playlist for it. Full of songs that inspire and enrich the words and emotions that made it onto the page. The songs bring to life the emotions of the journey the story takes me on, where everything is a little more frightening or sweeter because it accompanies the story so magically. Today, I’m thrilled to share the songs that inspired me while writing THIEF OF LIES (Library Jumpers #1).

(***Play on YouTube to access the entire AMAZING playlist)

The THIEF OF LIES’ playlist starts with Jump by Madonna, “Are you ready to jump? Get ready to jump. Don't ever look back, oh baby. Yes, I'm ready to jump. Just take my hand. Get ready to jump…” It represents Gia’s jump through the gateway books.
I love how You Don’t Know Me by Elizabeth Gillies captures Gia’s personality with lyrics like “You look at me and there's just one thing that you see…” and “There's so much more to me than what you think you see…”
John Mayer’s Half of My Heart takes me to the place where Gia is discovering a new world and new love but she’s not too certain about both with lyrics like “I was born in the arms of imaginary friends. Free to roam, made a home out of everywhere I've been…” and “Down the road, later on, you will hate that I never gave more to you than half of my heart…”
The song that best fits Gia came from a wonderful reader, Page_Flipping_Ninja (@SaundraDee on Twitter). It’s The Way I Was from the Jem and The Holograms soundtrack. With lyrics like “I’ll go, but I won’t go quietly. Go down, but I’ll go down fighting” and “But I can’t go back, back to the way I was.” It’s a perfect fit!
Half Way Gone by Lighthouse represents Gia’s frustration with Arik and how he seems to be into her but resists. Lyrics like, “I'm hanging on but growing cold…” and “'Cause you're halfway in, but don't take too long ‘cause I'm halfway gone…” fit the struggle between them.
Then she fights demons, so what better lyrics than these from Demons by Imagine Dragons: “Don't get too close. It's dark inside. It's where my demons hide,” and “I want to hide the truth. I want to shelter you. But with the best inside, there's nowhere we can hide…”
When all seems lost and the end is near, Waiting for the End by Linkin Park fits Gia’s mood with lyrics like, “Waiting for the end to come, wishing I had strength to stand. This is not what I had planned. It's out of my control…”
And when Gia longs for her life before jumping into the gateway book, there’s Home by Foo Fighters with such moving lyrics like, “Wish I were with you but I couldn't stay. Every direction leads me away. Pray for tomorrow but for today. All I want is to be home…”
Thank you, Christine, for having me on your blog today to share the THIEF OF LIES playlist. I hope you all enjoyed it.
[Christine again - wow! This music really makes me want to read this story. Thanks so much for sharing your playlist Brenda!]
