(Before It's News)

Redefining Socialism in Cuba. During the blockade, the country responded to the shortage of petroleum-based pesticides and fertilizers by becoming the world’s leader in organic agriculture, now more than 80% of Cuba’s agricultural production organic. Cuba has one doctor for approximately every one hundred families, resulting in a ratio of physicians per 1,000 people , that is twice as high as in the United States. Cuba’s emerging worker democracy through cooperatives occurs in agricultural production, as well as in the selling of products.

What Marx Was Really Saying. To grasp the work of the groundbreaking economist and philosopher, we have to go beyond his image and do more than just intuit what is right in his work.
