Israeli fighter jets targeted several sites inside Syria… came under anti-aircraft missile fire but returned safely, says military.

For the first time since its introduction into Israel’s defense systems, the Arrow-3 missile defense system has proved itself to be right ‘on target’

Syrian anti-aircraft missiles attempted to take out Israeli aircraft carrying out a rarely confirmed mission against threats to Israel coming from Syria.

“Overnight IAF (Israeli Air Force) aircraft targeted several targets in Syria. Several anti-aircraft missiles were launched from Syria following the mission and IDF (Israel Defence Force) Aerial Defence Systems intercepted one of the missiles,” the military said in its statement.

It is no secret, Iran’s military influence in Syria has increased exponentially in recent years. This funded buildup of weaponry enabling Hizballah and other sworn enemies of Israel to be armed for any potential future conflict was the target of Israel’s strike into Syrian territory last night.

“One of the anti-aircraft missiles had been intercepted” Israel’s military said in a statement, and “The blast was heard as far away as Jerusalem, dozens of miles away. There were no reports of casualties or damage.”

Last week Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu met in Moscow with Russian President Vladimir Putin to discuss what he charged were Iran’s attempts to establish a permanent military foothold in Syria.
