A Muslim college professor insisted in class that it was an ‘academic fact’ that Jesus wasn’t crucified and was never considered to be divine by his disciples. This is what is taught about Jesus in the Quran so it is quite natural that a Muslim teacher would assert that belief but a Christian student took exception it.

Later when the student received a low grade in the class he complained and received a suspension from the college. Fortunately he has been reinstated. But the story does not end there, the Muslim professor actually sued the student claiming that she was being stalked. From the Christian Post:

According to the Central Florida Post, Rollins College professor Areeje Zufari’s lawsuit asking for a temporary injunction against student Marshall Polston for protection against stalking was dismissed by a, Orange County circuit judge after she filed a motion to drop the case on Tuesday.

Polston, a student in Zufari’s Middle Eastern humanities class, has maintained that there is no evidence of him stalking Zufari and insists that she has made up the charges against him.

Response: This is just one case that demonstrates what many Christian students are going through in colleges and universities all across America.

Beyond that, this situation also introduces a general teaching about Jesus that is currently being asserted in most mainline protestant seminaries in America and Europe and accepted in most academic circles. Students in most liberal seminaries today are taught that the New Testament gospels do not necessarily reflect the ‘real’ teaching and beliefs of the historical Jesus and his followers.

For example. during the 1990’s many of the top New Testament scholars in America got together and voted on what they considered to be the most likely real words and teaching of Jesus. Nearly the entire Gospel of John was voted out including John 3:16. These supposed scholars discounted every statement that indicated any kind of  divine nature and origin of Jesus. They also voted against the resurrection and all appearances of Jesus after his crucifixion.

If you wonder why the more liberal churches find it easy to pick and choose what scriptures that they will follow it all starts in the seminaries where their ministers are being trained. A whole generation of pastors, who no longer believe in the traditional teaching of the Christianity, have been raised up to lead the mainline protestant churches.

I bring all of this up because some of their beliefs about Jesus are closer to the teaching of the Quran than the New Testament. In the future I  can easily predict that  many of these liberal ‘Christian’ ministers will suggest that the more divisive teachings about Jesus be left behind in order to secure a lasting world peace with Muslims.

That formula is already being tossed around in academic and progressive political circles. Rather than blame Islamists for their intolerance and their tendency to force folks to join them in worshipping Allah, they view conservative Christians and their insistence on following the Bible and on worshipping Jesus as the real problem and threat to world peace. I look for the ‘one world government’ folks to push some derivative of Islam as the best hope for one world religion and peace.                   *Top
