I just interviewed Paul Preston. Paul is a radio broadcaster on Agenda 21 Radio/Red State Radio and several AM stations
Paul Preston has been to the Oroville Dam and has seen, first hand, the impending disaster.
I asked him if the dam was going to collapse and he said he did not see how it was not going to fail.
In the following interview, Paul describes how Governor Brown has systematically avoided members of the media on this issue.
He has listened to local police scanners, there is already looting and shooting going on. This is not being reported in the mainstream media.
This is one fo the strongest bread basket applications in America. This region is #2 in rice. If this region is destroyed, there are very serious global and domestic implications for food supply.
Paul discusses the specifics about what is wrong with dam from a structural perspective. He also discusses why Governor Brown has motivation to not intervene, which he really has not. Preston believes that evacuations should happen immediately.

The dam is being repaired as I type this, the people are returning to their homes and it looks like there is pressure on Governor Brown to get his act together and repair the dam tout de suite! There was no re-bar in the concret of the main spillway where the dangerous hole developed. This California corruption at work. Now the lives and property of legal California citizens is in danger.
To make matters worse, billions were spent on the CA high speed rail and aid to illegal aliens.

Well…since none of the damage is actually on the main dam structure, failure doesn’t even seem remotely possible at this point. Maybe a failure of the spillway or emergency spillway, but not the dam. Once again Hodges shows his complete lack of “common sense” and is only in this to spew his fear porn agenda.

Hardly just long term cost cutting and lack of investment, the reality if you choose to face it is earth dams are just temporary stopgaps for the reinforced concrete ones which are meant to be constructed later slightly downstream. As you have noticed therefore the dams lifespan is not as claimed 500 years but 50 without the required constant maintenance, the spillway erosion will if neglected this year erode the structure of the dam all the way to the dam wall to a single point of failure, something all but impossible with the concrete and stone dams.
