Albuquerque, NM – Attempted murder suspect Rogelio Bejar is back on U.S. soil and in custody after he was removed from Mexico Friday. Bejar is wanted for his alleged involvement in the attempted murder of a man in August 2006.
“Bejar’s arrest highlights the persistence of the U.S. Marshals Service South West Investigative Fugitive Team (SWIFT) in pursuing and bringing fugitives to justice to include those hiding internationally,” said U.S. Marshal Conrad Candelaria, District of New Mexico.
The Santa Fe Police Department, U.S. Marshals Service SWIFT Task Force, the U.S. Marshals Service and Mexican authorities developed information that Bejar was in Mexico. On Friday, he was returned to the U.S. and transferred to U.S. Marshals custody. Bejar will be booked into the Santa Fe County Detention Center pending court proceedings.
“This is yet another example of the capabilities of the United States Marshals Service to transcend international boundaries in investigating and apprehending violent and dangerous fugitives,” Candelaria said.
