The best independent earthquake reporting website in the world
This (almost) daily post intends to follow up the activity changes of volcanoes all over the world.
This post is written by geologist Richard Wilson who specializes in Volcano seismicity and Armand Vervaeck. Please feel free to tell us about new or changed activity if we haven’t written about it. -

October , 2012 volcano activity
The earthquake swarm near Lassen Peak (CA) appears to be finished, but very small earthquakes continue at Mammoth Mountain near Long Valley caldera (station MCY).
Exhalations of gas (and some ash) continued at a reduced rate (an average of less than one per hour) during the past 24 hours at Popocatepetl volcano (Mexico).
The rate of small low-frequency earthquakes and volcanic tremor has increased at Pacaya volcano (Guatemala) (station PCG). This morning’s seismogram from Fuego volcano shows an out burst that occurred at the volcano overnight. (station FG3)
Small volcanic earthquakes (and some tremor) characterize “normal” levels of activity at Telica, San Cristobal, and Concepcion volcanoes in Nicaragua. (stations TELN, CRIN, and CONN respectively).
In El Salvador, volcano-seismicity continues a slow, steady climb at San Miguel volcano (station VSM). Again, this is “normal” behavior at the volcano where, from time to time, seismicity builds to a crescendo, usually over weeks to months, and then returns to lower levels over a similar time span. Little surface activity occurs in conjunction with the increased internal activity. Maybe some increased gas emission and minor rockfalls within the crater.
Small earthquakes also characterize low levels of activity at Colombian volcanoes Nevado del Ruiz (station OLLZ) and Machin (station CIMA) today.
Steady, rhythmic volcanic tremor continues at White Island volcano (New Zealand) and very small local earthquakes affect Tongariro volcano.
