Barbour County Republican Committee Chairwoman
The Barbour County Republican Club was founded in December of 2010. Currently they have 315 members. It is very exciting to be progressing in a historically Democrat county; they have never had a Republican candidate elected to a County of city office. That is quickly changing, in large part thanks to Chair Jeanie Tillis. Her political experience is practically nonexistent but she has taken this position very seriously as she is so concerned about the future of our County, State and Country.
Her background is in Sales and Marketing. She is the owner and broker of Lake Real Estate, having been in real estate sales for 31 years. She has been involved in developing several real estate projects as well.
She has twice served as the President of the Eufaula Board of Realtors, served as a Director of Friends of Lake Eufaula and have served on numerous committees for the city of Eufaula as well.
Having owned several businesses, she is well aware of the challenges small businesses face. Especially, in small towns in Southeast Alabama, where they often feel disconnected from the rest of the state.
Currently, Jeannie is running for a City Council position in Eufaula and they have seven other candidates qualified to run that are members of the Republican group. They are ready to maximize the potential of this county.
Having Mike Huckabee in Eufaula was a milestone for Barbour County and he will be the catalyst to quickly propel them in a forward direction. Justice Mark Kennedy came to Barbour County recently and accused Republicans of being racist and asked the Democrats to rally, so Jeannie believes that’s a sign that they are getting worried!
They had approxixmately 300 attendees at their first fundraiser featuring Governor Mike Huckabee and appreciate the support from the surrounding counties and the staff in the state GOP office.
Jeannie has lived in Barbour County most of her life. Previous to her real estate experience she owned a retail store and a restaurant. Her commitment to helping make Barbour County a better, more progressive county is steadfast; they are determined to have conservatives in leadership positions for the first time in history. This is a new day in Barbour County! Together we can make this a red county!
