Dear Cherie,

Your book is amazing. It’s not only amazing it’s fantastic! Your book has inspired me so much. I have read your book three times and I’m still not tired of reading it. What I love about your book is the way you expressed yourself and the language you used for the book. To start off I must say that I love the band The Runaways. I first found out about your band when I was in 8th grade after I watched one of my favorite movies of all time Detroit Rock City. I really liked all the songs from the movie so I ended up searching for the soundtrack online. After I found the soundtrack I saw that the song School Days was on the movie. I saw the word The Runaways and thought I’ve never heard of them before. Thanks to YouTube I looked up your band online and started to fall head over rocking love with your band. That’s how it all started. You are now an inspiration to my life. In your book you said that when you went to school you got picked on and didn’t have many friends and you were sort of like the “David Bowie lover” outcast of your school. Well, at the time when I first read your book  I was going through a period of time where I was trying to find out who I was. When I mean “who I was” I mean like what do I want in life, who were really were my friends, what’s going to be my life after high school, that sort of stuff. Well, it was really hard. I’m still trying to figure out some of those things.  I mean in your book you said that when the crazy red head chick started bullying you, you later came to school the way you liked to dress and stood tall and showed them whose boss…yeah, that was awesome. Anyways, I think you and I have something in common.

Your book even gave me a pretty good outlook on my future and helped me decide what I wanted to do. How your book helped me decide which career to choose is because in your book when you’re talking about when you went from being a rock star to being a wood carver…Well, those are two different worlds! You did it though because you loved it. I pondered long days and hours really thinking about what I wanted to do for a career. It’s very hard when the world and society is focused a lot about money instead of the actual job itself. Yes, I would love to have a good salary but that doesn’t mean I want a stressful, boring, or hateful job for the rest of my life.

Overall, your book was a huge help to me. Your book inspired me to do so many things and be who I really wanted to be. It’s nice to know the life of a true rock n roll star speaking upfront in their own words. It’s nice to know the real life behind the “rich and the famous” it’s always not as great as it seems. You made me appreciate life more than you could ever even imagine. This book will always be my favorite. Keep rocking out to David Bowie and please write another book.

Sincerely,

Retro Rose, a Runaways Fan

PS: When you said in your book your favorite song by David Bowie was Lady Grinning Soul…well you converted me.
