Yunnan landslides leave 6 dead, 17 missing

A landslide in Yunnan Province of China has claimed lives of at least six people and left 17 others missing, Xinhua News Agency reported.

Landslide at around 2 a.m. in Minzhu Village, Yunlong County, killed six people. Landslide struck a silicon mining site in Shawa Village, Fugong County and left 17 others missing.

They are expected to swept into the Nujiang River, which is about 500 meters from the site.

As of June 30, 61 people in Yunnan had been killed or were missing due to disasters brought by heavy rain, Xinhua mentioned quoting the provincial meteorological bureau.
