(Before It's News)

Peru has declared a 60-day state of emergency in 14 regions to brace for possible damage from El Nino in the rainy season.
A “moderate to strong” El Nino is forecast in the regions, Reuters reported.

El Nino in Peru has wreaked havoc on local fishing and triggered landslides in past years. Current state of emergency covers several key fishing and mining areas.
Similarly, a University of Queensland plant science expert has warned a high risk of reduced wheat harvests this winter due to a strengthening El Nino event across Australia.
