PAUL MCCARTHY,  the master of the grotesque best known for his works made of violence, humor, sex, impotence, filth and degradation among other ingredients, presented this autumn a rather sleek exhibition at the Schinkel Pavillon in Berlin.

Actually MCCARTHY filled the space of the Berliner institution with a series of past works such as Horizontal (2012), a lifelike synthetic replica of the artist, a sculptural video installation entitled That Girl T.G. Drawing Table – Drawing (2011–2013) as well as a series of digital photographic prints that were generated as part of the scanning process for That Girl T.G. Asleep, (2012-2013), That Girl T.G. Awake (2012-2013).

Much of MCCARTHY‘s exhibitions may seem wholly concerned with forms and excesses, but for this presentation it appeared that he was perhaps more drawn to experiment with the spaces in between them: what happens in the underlying void, regardless of the medium.

Unfortunately this exhibition closed a few days ago, but I invite you to visit the website of the Schinkel Pavillon to have a better perspective of the show: http://www.schinkelpavillon.de
