The way data is positioned within a cell is referred to the cell alignment. Data can be aligned vertically and horizontally. You have three options for the vertical alignment of data within a cell: at the top of the cell, in the middle of the cell or at the bottom of the cell. You also have three options for the horizontal alignment of cell contents: to the left side of the cell, in the center of the cell or to the right side of the cell.

There should be an image here!

To change the alignment of data within a cell:

  1. Select the cell or cells that contain the data for which you want to change the alignment.
  2. To change the vertical alignment: on the Home tab, within the Alignment group, click one of the following: Top Align, Middle Align or Bottom Align.
  3. To change the horizontal alignment: on the Home tab, within the Alignment group, click one of the following: Text Left, Center, or Align Text Right.
