Response to: Verizon give you a Free HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE if you switch to.
Is this really a good deal? Let’s see.
If you switch to Verizon Wireless and sign a 2 year contract, and purchase a required data package in addition to the voice plan and a text plan, if you want to text, they will give you an HTC thunderbolt 4G LTE which normally retails for $569.00 absolutely FREE. But,
The lowest priced Voice plan is $39.99 a month for 450 minutes.
The lowest priced texting plan is $10.00 a month for 1000 messages.
And the lowest priced data plan is $30.00 a month for 2GB.
For a total of $79.99 a month BEFORE taxes and fees. On a two year contract you will pay a total of $1919.76 over those two years. This is before taxes and fees.
If you want an unlimited package, that is going to cost you more and it does lack a little in the data package.
The unlimited voice plan cost $69.99 a month.
The unlimited texting plan cost $20.00 a month.
There is no unlimited data package so the most that can be purchased is 12GB for a cost of $100.00 a month.
The monthly total for a not so unlimited plan is $189.99. The two year total is a whopping $4559.76 and these figures are BEFORE taxes and fees.
Compare this to a Pre-Paid plan offered by Lightyear Wireless that requires No Contracts, No Credit Checks and No Deposits that offers a truly Unlimited Talk, Text and Data plan on a Nationwide 3G/4G Network for only $59.99 and $69.99 a month respectively.
The only catch is you must purchase the phone. But compare this to the above example where Verizon gives you the phone and you pay nearly $200 a month for service.
Purchase the 4G phone @ $399.00 then pay $69.00 a month for the 4G unlimited plan for two years for a total of $1679.76. Combine that with the cost of the phone and the grand total is $2079.75
The cost for the unlimited plan from Lightyear Wireless is only $159.00 more over the two year period than the lowest priced plans offered by Verizon Wireless, but the upside is the unlimited usage that is available with Lightyear Wireless.
Now In comparing the unlimited plan from Lightyear Wireless to the not so unlimited plan from Verizon Wireless, Lightyear Wireless comes out way ahead being $2480.01 less than Verizon.
Which would you rather pay for unlimited wireless service? A) $4559.76 or B) $2480.01
I think it is clear which is the better price. However, Lightyear Wireless does not offer the HTC Thunderbolt 4G LTE, but they do offer some very nice Android Smart Phones Such as the LG Optimus 670 ID Android at a price of $179.99, the Samsung Conquer at a price of $299.99 and the HTC EVO 4G at a price of $399.99
Let’s face it, the Lightyear Wireless Pre-Paid plan with unlimited talk, text and data at a price of $59.99 for 3G and $69.99 for 4G and a decently priced phone is a great deal for anyone looking for a good deal on a Smart Phone. After all why pay more for the same performance and less service?
But that’s not the best part of what Lightyear Wireless has to offer.
Lightyear Wireless is offing consumers a way to get their wireless service for FREE.
That’s right FREE 3G or FREE 4G wireless service.
So now the question becomes, which is better to have, the free phone or the FREE monthly service?
Hmmm…. $4559.67 or $399.99? Plus tax of course.
