Xiaomi, the Chinese smartphone company which is also the world’s third largest smartphone maker, has announced the new Mi Note. The company has been teasing this device for past few days and finally the wait is over. There were many speculations in the recent past regarding the new device from Xiaomi. Some predicted it to be an upgraded Redmi Note while some said it would be the new Mi 5. Proving everyone wrong Xiaomi revealed a completely new device called the Mi Note. This device will compete against some of the best high end branded smartphones out there in the market. Let us have a look at the specs of the new Xiaomi Mi Note.
The new Xiaomi Mi Note features a 5.7 inch FullHD display having a screen resolution of 1920 x 1280 pixels. The display has been manufactured by Sharp/JDI and it has a contrast ratio of 1400:1 with adaptive dynamic contrast. The beautiful large display is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The front has a 2.5D glass with gentle curve around the edges. Above the display there is a 4MP front facing camera with 2 micron pixel size which is identical to the HTC One UltraPixel camera.
The back of the Xiaomi Mi Note is also made up of Corning Gorilla Glass 3 and Xiaomi calls it 3D glass which has a more pronounced curve. There is a 13MP primary camera with Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor with f/2.0 aperture and optical image stabilization. It is coupled with a two tone flash as well. The sides of the new Xiaomi Mi Note are made up of metal. Xiaomi has really raised the standards of the build quality of the Mi Note. It would definitely be one of the best premium devices to hold.
Inside the new Xiaomi Mi Note is a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 Chipset with a 2.5 GHz quad core CPU. The graphics on this device will be taken care of by the Adreno 330 GPU. The new Mi Note comes with 3 GB of RAM and 16/32 GB of internal storage. It is a Dual SIM device which supports a micro and a nano 4G SIM card. The battery on the Mi Note is a Sony/LG Li-ion 3,000mAh unit. Even then this device weighs just 161g.
Alongside the new Mi Note Xiaomi has also unveiled the Mi Note Pro. It is meant for those crazy people who want to extract the most out of their devices. The Mi Note Pro is powered by a 64 bit Snapdragon 810 processor and comes with 4 GB of RAM and has a 64 GB version only. The display of the Pro has also been beefed up to a 2560 × 1440 resolution which has a pixel density of 515 ppi (2k display). In terms of software, both the Mi Note and the Mi Note Pro are running on the latest MIUI 6 on top of Android 4.4.4 KitKat.
Xiaomi has clearly stirred the smartphone market in Asia. It is getting popular in other countries as well. The latest Mi Note and Mi Note Pro is the answer to the OnePlus One and other high end devices like the iPhone 6 and Samsung Galaxy S5. The Xiaomi Mi Note will have a price of 2,299 Chinese Yuan ($371) or Rs 22,893 for the 16 GB variant and 2799 Chinese Yuan ($451) or Rs 27,900 for the 64 GB model whereas the Mi Note Pro will come at a price of 3,299 Chinese Yuan ($532) or Rs 32,800.
