The myth was finally busted by Craig Federighi, head of Apple’s iOS team. When asked whether you should closes all of the applications that are running in the background to save the battery of an iPhone, and he replied “NO”.
According to Federighi and Android’s vice president of engineering Dave Burke, applications running in background do not drain the battery of a cellphone in any manner.
