Lively debate ends in pledge to Communities in Schools

Richmond Common Council this week pledged $50,000 in Economic Development Income Tax money to Communities in Schools, but not before a lively debate on whether the investment was truly dollars spent on economic development.

In the end, council voted 5-3 to commit $50,000 to CIS this year, although council members amended the request to give the money directly to Richmond Community Schools exclusively for CIS.
