Broccoli May Prevent Large Intestine Inflammation

Vegetables are one source of fiber and vitamins that is recommended for your consumption. An existing research has shown that broccoli is one vegetable that has the ability to improve the health of the digestive organs prior to prevent colitis.

Research ever undertaken by a team from the University of Liverpool has found that fiber in broccoli could increase the body’s natural ability to fight infection in the digestive tract. It is caused by further research carried out if broccoli could be used to as a drug for patients with Crohn’s disease or large intestine.

In general, patients with Crohn’s disease will experience limitations in absorbing nutrients. Common symptoms of this disease are usually persistent diarrhea, abdominal pain, presence of blood in the stools and decreased body weight. Patients with this disease experienced by people who have diets low in fiber and prefer to consume food that is preserved.

Results from the study also showed that fiber from vegetables broccoli may also prevent bacterial entry into intestinal cells.
