How To Stay Motivated To Work Out – Get A Workout Partner

Motivating yourself to workout is not an easy thing to do by yourself sometimes. Some of us feel that it is nearly impossible to motivate yourself to exercise without the help of a commited partner. Whatever your stance is, I think we can all agree that having a workout partner to keep you motivated and accountable makes it much easier to get you to the gym because you don’t want to let them down!

Start slow– Most people will get back in the gym, train hard and feel like they got a great workout. They probably did, but one of the fastest ways to lose motivation to exercise is the incredible pain you feel over the next few days … or for the entire week for that matter. By the time the soreness goes away, your brain has convinced itself that you don’t want to feel that pain again.

Just because you were able to do 20 pull-ups in high school doesn’t mean you should hit the same amount 5 or 10 years later. Start with low or modified reps, then work your way back up over time. Remember, slow and steady wins the race. Taking small steps, over time, will add up to dramatic results that are permanent because you did it the right way and made lifestyle changes!

How To Stay Motivated To Work Out – Keep track of your results:

If you don’t write down what you did this week, it’s highly unlikely that you’ll remember what you did next week, or a month after for that matter. Learn to write things down, it will help you improve your performance. The important thing to note is that you want to make sure you are able to do more reps or progressively increase the level of difficulty of your routine.

If your goal is trying to lose weight, you can measure your progress by stepping on a scale or looking in a mirror. If your goal is trying to get bigger or stronger, you can’t step on a scale and see your results … rather, you need to know that you improved the difficulty of your workouts or the number of reps you did. And this, is how to stay motivated to work out!

There are a million ways to motivate yourself to eat healthier and exercise more consistenyly, but these four are ones that work very well for me and I hope they work for you! I’ll leave you with some advice to help you stay motivated not only with your workout programs but in life in general. If you love your workout lifestyle, you will enjoy it; and when you enjoy it, you will perform better and stick with it because it is now part of your lifestyle!
