Christina Jones stays in Indira Nagar, Bangalore and is a native of Liverpool, England. She loves cycling and cycles more than 10km a day in and around Bangalore. Cycle was invented as a basic mode of transport in earlier age however now that is the very easy way in today’s city traffic.
She said, “I cycle because it’s the cheapest mode of travel, healthy and helps me get places quicker than by bus or car. Buying and maintaining a car would be expensive and buses are not a friendly option.
If you’re stuck in a traffic snarl, you can cycle your way through vehicles rather than sit in a bus. Cycling also keeps me healthy, which is why I took to cycling ever since I came to India”.
She travels around Bangalore by cycling to Cubbon Park and dance class. She also uses her cycle to go to her friend’s home in the city. She said, “I cycle more than 10km and find it very relaxing. Better than stressing myself, sitting through traffic jams in buses or auto rickshaws.
She also added, “Each and every vehicle driver tries to make a way for himself, and somehow pass through. They are not bothered how much space they are using up on the road, and not giving enough space for others to pass. People are selfish, which is why traffic is so chaotic in Bangalore”.
She also said, “Bus drivers and conductors are not very literate, neither are auto rickshaw drivers. Taxi drivers only look to fleece foreigners. The Metro is the best transport solution for the city and also traffic. I would also advise that more people drop their cars and cycle down for distances up to 5km”.
She loves Bangalore because it has good weather and historical places. She lived in Rajasthan, which is very colorful and a historical place. But she loves more Bangalore than Rajasthan.
Cycling keeps everyone healthy
