I guess that’s what we call “A picture is worth one thousand words”. Three hundred thirty one people, among them more than one hundred women and children, all loaded on a boat wreck. Three hundred thirty one people in search of a better life – no matter what the risks and dangers.
The fishing boat carrying illegal migrants to Greece sent out SOS and request for assistance in the early morning hours of Monday while it was sailing 54 nautical miles Northwest off the island of Crete.
Two cargo ships and one US warship sailed to the spot, one of the tankers managed to bring the migrants in safety.
The first group of the rescued arrived on Tuesday morning at the port of Chania.
