Latest Washington security scare: driver tries to run down police

On Thursday, according to a Capitol police spokesperson in Washington, an “erratic and aggressive” driver failed to halt after she made a U-turn at the bottom of Capitol Hill and then tried to run over police officers. The police then gave chase. At least one policeman opened fire on the driver, who was captured after a foot chase and taken into custody. The Botanical Gardens were cordoned off and Capitol Hill was said to have been temporarily locked down. The police spokesperson said the event was being investigated as a criminal incident, not terror.
