DEBKAfile was founded by a team of journalists in June 2000 as an independent Internet Web site, providing an intelligence and security news service. April 9, 2017, 9:41 PM (IDT)

President Donald Trump, joining the international condemnation of the church bombings in Egypt, said in a tweet Sunday that he has “great confidence” that Egyptian President Abdel-Fattah el-Sisi, “will handle the situation properly.” The attacks claimed by ISIS on Coptic churches in the Nile Delta city of Tanta and Alexandria, killing more than 40 people,  took place less than a week after Sisi visited the White House.
Egypt’s Interior Ministry said a suicide bomber caused the blast at the Alexandria church when police stopped him from storming inside. Three of the 11 fatalities were police officers.

Our unique angle on these subjects – and strong intelligence dimension – has earned DEBKAfile a global reputation and a steady readership – which skyrockets in times of crisis.
