Peptic ulcer ratio jumped up 3 times much as before 311 in Miyagi

Lecturer. Iijima and Dr. Kanno from Tohoku university hospital found out the ratio of peptic ulcer jumped up 3 times much as before 311. Peptic ulcer includes gastric ulcer and Duodenal ulcer.
They assert it is because of psychogenic stress.
The researching team collected information about peptic ulcer cases from 7 major hospitals for 3 months following 311 in Miyagi prefecture.
As a result, peptic ulcer cases were 383, which was 261 in 2010. (↑150%)
Among these cases, peptic ulcer which were diagnosed exclusively from psychogenic stress were 55, which was 20 in 2010.
Patients who had Helicobacter pylori infection or used to take medicine also started having peptic ulcer after 311.
The largest group is over 65 years old. The largest increase was observed in the hospitals in coastal area, which were damaged by Tsunami. The first 10 days after 311 had the most significant increase in the ratio.
