10 quakes within 10 hours in Izu-ohshima island / Epicenter “Very shallow”

According to Japan Meteorological Agency, 10 earthquakes occurred in Izu-ohshima island only within 10 hours on 7/28/2014.

Izu-ohshima island is located approx. 110km in the south of Tokyo.

The first quake occurred at 14:28 of 7/28/2014 (JST). Magnitude was 3.5.

It also occurred at 14:33 (M2.4), 15:15 (M3.0), 15:31 (M2.2), 17:05 (M4.4), 17:57 (M2.6), 19:37 (M2.1), 19:42 (M2.4), 00:34 (M2.3), and 00:41 (M2.1).

All of these had epicenter “very shallow”.

From the report of National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention, shallow earthquakes have concentrated in the Northern part of the island since last week. (See photo attached on the top)

Japan Meteorological Agency and the government of Japan haven’t published any announcement.
