On 8/6/2014, Tepco announced the possibility that Reactor 2 might have had “large amount of heat” in 311 by having the coolant water touching the fuel and generated hydrogen.
They keep it in the most vague expression as “large amount of heat” but haven’t stated Reactor 2 experienced any kinds of explosion.
According to their official report so far, Reactor 2 isn’t supposed to have exploded. (cf, Evidence to prove reactor2 also possibly exploded in 311 was found / Hole on suppression chamber [URL])
Tepco stated they had fire-engine give emergency coolant water to Reactor 2 in 311. However it reacted with the fuel to generate hydrogen gas and the “large amount of heat” and accelerated meltdown.
