Refueling machine of Reactor 5 malfunctioned

The refueling machine of Reactor 5 malfunctioned on 12/4/2014. Tepco has difficulties to remove fuel even from an uncrippled reactor.

The alarm of low air pressure went off when they rolled down the mast of refueling machine to inspect the inside of Reactor 5.

The alarm went off in the same operation on 12/6/2014 too.

Reactor 5 contains 548 fuel assemblies.

The cause hasn’t been identified. Tepco plans to inspect the refueling machine.
