(Before It's News)
On March 2nd, the YAL chapter at Brigham Young University had a meeting that included a presentation by Heather from Americans For Prosperity. AFP is a national lobbying and grassroots activist volunteer organization that fights for the ideals of the free market, and has won several battles in just this session of the Utah Legislature.
It was extremely refreshing to hear how powerful five people can be. Heather told us about their efforts to stop a transportation proposition that would increase taxes to pay for a public transit system already wrought with corruption, in Salt Lake and Utah Counties. With only two weeks to work with and five people, they made 20,000 phone calls and knocked thousands of doors to let everyday Utahn's know what their government is doing.
Through this experience we were able to learn about the real work that is being done today in our community in the name of liberty and the free market. There are opportunities right now within a short drive that we can take advantage of. The meeting was truly a success. We are ready to keep fighting for the message of liberty.
