thanks to David Thompson …
An actual winter storm ala Southern California (stop that scoffing, there, in the back row) may make it here — all the while our rulers in Sacramento are busy telling us It.Wont.Count. towards the 4 years and running drought.
But hey, double our population from 20 to 40 mil in the last 40 years but refuse to build any extra water storage!
Want another story of Hey Let Government Do it and F**k It up? In California, the courts are state-run, but in conjunction with the county government. Each court district is defined by the county they are in.
… and, of course, funding is not even. If your county has more political ‘pull’ you’ll get more dollars regardless of your case load. … but I digress
The county I work for (not a state employee, thank God) has been running its case management system since the time of clay tablet and stylus (a DOS looking interface on an AS400). So for the past 10-12 months they have been working on finally migrating to a new system, New! Improved! Web Interface! WOOHOO! and they made us start using it 3 weeks ago
As of this evening, it still isn’t working. We don’t have our old system (they stopped updating it on 2/11) and we can’t do even the most basic kind duties on the new one.
Now you know what would happen in private industry … but Government??
Which leads right to adult beverages … it’s Friday night and I’m going to risk a hangover tomorrow cuz YOU ALL try supervising 32 women who have redefined cattiness and pettiness this week because of frustration …
… add to that a run to election year conventions with a guy who talks about the size of his penis in a national debate and a woman heading towards indictment who wants to get to the bottom of the UFO issue and I’m just about done with this week …
There is this nice bottle of reposado tequila that we infused with pink peppercorns that is going make an appearance in a shaker with pineapple juice, lime juice, simple syrup and a dash of bitters.
Cheers!
