Chinese stock exchanges closed sharply lower on Monday, creating the lowest point in more than 3 years. The benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell 1.74 percent, or 36.40 points, to close at 2055.71. The Shenzhen Component Index closed at 8402.15, down 2.06 percent, or 177.13 points. Over 874 stocks fell more than 3%. 119 stocks fell more than 6%. Brokerage, insurance, rare earth, coal, and steel took the hardest hit. Chinese retail investors appear to have lost enthusiasm in domestic stocks, also known as A-shares. Among 6.85 million A-shares accounts, only 4.12% of them were trading in August, according a report by the China Security Depository and Clearing Corporation Limited. This means in 100 retail investors, there are only 4 still buying and selling shares. For more news and videos visit ☛ english.ntdtv.com Follow us on Twitter ☛ http Add us on Facebook ☛ on.fb.me
