(Before It's News)

Steven Spielberg, Dustin Hoffman, Jack Black and other A-list celebrities had lunch in Beverly Hills on Thursday. But this was about more than fine dining – they presented grants of more than 1.2 million dollars to nonprofit entertainment-related organizations, film schools and scholarship programs on behalf of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association, or HFPA. Every year, the HFPA, the non-profit group behind the Golden Globes, invites stars to present the grants. This year Bradley Cooper, Christina Hendricks, Don Johnson, Jennifer Lawrence, John Travolta, Kerry Washington, Carla Gugino and more all graced the star-studded red carpet rolled out before the luncheon. Director Steven Spielberg said that the HFPA was necessary for filmmakers to preserve their works. [Steven Spielberg, Movie Director]: “From the aspiring artists that we were as children to the filmmakers that we are today, we are all an organization that's fully committed to the preservation of works that not only inspired us back then to make movies but that continue to motivate us.” Over the past 18 years, the HFPA has donated nearly $15 million through its grants program.
