United States sprinter Tyson Gay said on Wednesday that he is focusing on achieving success in the 4x100m relay to help get over the disappointment of finishing fourth in the 100 meters. Despite being the second fastest man of all time, Gay has never stepped on an Olympic podium, and was inconsolable after trailing Jamaican rivals Usain Bolt, Yohan Blake and fellow American Justin Gatlin in the great sprint showdown on Sunday. However, he is clearly relishing his next challenge. [Tyson Gay, United States 100 Meters Sprinter]: “I feel better now. It's still tough when I think about it, sometimes I get emotional. But at the same time, I'm really looking, really, really looking forward to getting a medal in the 4×100 relay. That's my goal, I'm going to stay focused and try and do that. If I do that I definitely will fill a small space in my heart, to bring home some hardware.” Gay underwent hip surgery that kept him off the track for a year, but made no excuses for the 100m defeat. Four years ago in Beijing Gay failed to complete a semi-final relay handover with team mate Doc Patton. So does Gay feel he now has a point to prove in London's re-run? [Tyson Gay, United States 100 Meters Sprinter]: “Of course, not even just four years ago, even last year. I definitely want to be a part of this relay team, and be a part of success and history in this relay because we have goals… and I'm looking forward to it.”
