(Before It's News)

Bo Xilai was not the only official to be purged from the Party over the weekend. State-run Xinhua News Agency reports that Communist leaders have endorsed the expulsion of China's former railway minister Liu Zhijun from the Party during the 7th plenary session of the Central Committee. Liu was sacked last year for corruption, “serious disciplinary violations”, and failing to ensure safety standards that led to the deadly Wenzhou train crash in July last year. Other announcements from the plenum include the appointment of two new vice chairmen of the Central Military Commission. The commission is in charge of the People's Liberation Army. An amendment to the Communist Party constitution was also passed during the plenum, though the details have not been released.
