“Fearless Felix” Baumgartner, the skydiver who performed a record-breaking freefall from space, talks about confronting his fears for the life-changing jump. Full Story: Felix Baumgartner tells reporters in Moscow that his 24-mile jump from space last month has changed his life. But to make it happen, he says, he first had to conquer his fears. Baumgartner made the comments after signing a star to be installed in a Moscow mall's walk of fame. On October 14th, the 43-year old Austrian daredevil leapt into the stratosphere from a balloon near the edge of space. He set a record for the highest skydive and broke the speed of sound in the process. The jump was viewed live on YouTube by more than 8 million people. We definitely touched people's hearts, and I think we inspired the next generation, so I think that it's a great honor for me.” Dubbed “Fearless Felix” for his past stunts, Baumgartner has spoken openly about overcoming claustrophobia and anxiety. The extreme parachutist says he worked with a psychologist to overcome his fears. He hopes to remove some of the stigma of seeking professional mental help to overcome anxiety.
