(Before It's News)

British centenarian Jim Clements refuses to retire from his office job. He is enjoying his 86th year of employment. Full Story: One-hundred-year-old Richard James Clements—known as Jim—went back to work at the age of 66, and has been with the same company ever since. Initially employed on a temporary contract for a period of just one month, Clements is now in his 34th year with Active Security in Harlow, Essex. [Jim Clements, Centenarian]: “It's been really very good for me because any little thing that I couldn't overcome, they'd help me out in any way. I appreciate every day of it actually, since I've been here.” Clements works two days a week doing office administration, and says he prefers filing to other tasks, including shredding documents. He admits that when he took the job he never expected to be such a long-serving worker, but says he had no plans to work elsewhere. Clements' colleagues highly respect him. [Carol Hurley, Colleague]: “He just gets funnier as the time goes on.” [Kim Rust]: “We're like an extended family; we've always looked out for him.” Outside of work, the great-grandfather enjoys tending to his garden and only stopped driving two years ago.
