Egypt starts talks with NATO over cooperation to confront terrorism

NATO foreign ministers meet at the Alliance’s headquarters in Brussels 4 =

Negotiations will start between Egypt and the North Atlantic Treaty =
Organization (NATO) on Monday over methods to boost cooperation to confront =
terrorism within the organization’s role of enhancing the capacities of its =
Mediterranean partner countries.
Hesham Badr, deputy foreign minister for multilateral affairs and =
international security, said on Sunday before flying to Brussels on a =
three-day visit to Belgium that he will meet with the NATO deupty secretary =
to mull aspects of cooperation in the field of combating terrorism, what =
NATO could do and mechanisms of cooperation between Egypt and NATO.
Badr added that during his meeting with several NATO officials he will =
present achievements in Egypt’s transitional roadmap and the government=92s =
intentions of carrying it out. He will also review the dangers of terrorism =
that Egypt faces.
The talks with NATO, according to Badr, comes on the occasion of celebratin=
g =
20 years of cooperation between the organization and Mediterranean =
countries. NATO will also organize trainings for ambassadors and media =
professionals to enhance capacities. Fifteen media professionals will head =
to the NATO headquarters on 11 March to attend the training sessions.
